About the Event

This 4 day retreat is an opportunity to use nature and art to erase past stresses and reboot your present and future.

Away from noise, hustle and bustle, you can switch off, nurture the budding artist in you and empower yourself to face a new winter.

Using the power of hypnosis and mesmerism, artist and hypnotherapist, Melissa Alley Tecklenberg will use her experience to help you fully enjoy and connect with the stunning Yorkshire Dales scenery. Each day, before a morning walk, you will be taken in to a meditation to help instil new habits of mindfulness so you can fully engage with the natural world. Every afternoon you will build upon these experiences in practical art workshops to help you break through past limitations and reset your life to become brighter and more creative.

The workshops will last approximately 3 hours and will include a short tea break.

Workshop #1: After your walk observing the Autumnal hues, you will learn basic colour theory as well as the symbolism of colours and their history.

Workshop #2: You will work from a still life created from things found on your walk (after being helped to break through creative blockages with the help of Melissa’s hypnotherapy skills).

Workshop #3: You will learn how to create abstract work and to focus on finding ways for you to access your imagination for creative fulfilment. This could kickstart you to work independently and there is an offer of a free half hour feedback session with Melissa available for up to a year after the course.

The chosen venue, Brownber Hall, an award winning Victorian country house in the Yorkshire Dales, will be the setting for this bespoke retreat of no more than 8 guests - this will allow us to respect social distancing.

" Melissa ran a mesmerism and art session that I attended last year. I found it very calming and I enjoyed it immensely. I am not an artist but I did produce a piece of art that day that I am very proud of and it's encouraged me to do more." Katie.
